Welcome to Life Under the Wheel
New Haven, CT, Date July 5, 2015: –
Founded in 2017, Life Under the Wheel (LUTW) is an emerging nonprofit focused on sharing the joys of the music festival experience with music lovers living with life-threatening illnesses.
At Life Under the Wheel, they believe that music festivals create communities bound together by a passion for music and a love of sharing that experience with others. Their mission is to provide individuals living with a life-threatening illness the opportunity to receive all of the richness of the music festival experience.
Life Under the Wheel’s Festival Grant program allows music lovers to apply (or be nominated) through the organization’s website. If an applicant/nominee is selected to receive a Festival Grant, LUTW will provide:
- Tickets to the music festival of their choice
- Travel and accommodations to and from the event
- A dedicated “concierge” for the Festival Grant recipient and a companion (or caregiver) during their Festival Grant experience.
Life Under the Wheel has set itself up for success by assembling a team of music festival veterans. The founders, Evan Gross and Elizabeth Pikaart, have collectively been working in the industry for over a decade. They have served many festivals in various operational areas such as ticketing, credentials, RFID operations, customer service, logistics, artist relations, and access control operations. The LUTW Board of Directors is comprised of five festival industry heavy hitters including: Ruth Carlton, Director of Festival & Venue Operations at Another Planet Entertainment; Lauren DelFrago, Festival Manager of Life Is Beautiful Music & Art Festival; Christy Feener, Vice President of National Event Services West; Gordon Oldham, Executive Director at Rock Medicine; and Taylor Shomaker, Vice President of Event Operations at AC Entertainment. All of their Board members embody the spirit of the music festival community and bring experience, talent and expertise to the table.
LUTW welcomes music lovers living with a life-threatening illness to submit an application. They also invite friends, family, social workers, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to nominate individuals they believe would benefit from their program.
